Mold in your home is never a good thing
Mold in your home is never a good thing. It can make your regular allergies worsen or can even mislead you to think is just allergies when in fact it is something much worse.
In rare cases symptoms such as fever and difficulty breathing can be caused by different types of mold.
Mold is usually found in your crawlspace or basement under your house. In most single story homes, or bedrooms located on first floors, you are only sleeping three to four feet away from mold. Mold only needs a humidity of 60% or higher and organic material. It doesn't actually need to be wet for mold to grow, the humidity does just fine. Now once the mold has grown it starts producing spores that travel all throughout your home via the ducts in your home or just through regular air movement of a leaky house. The natural movement of air in your home is known as the stack effect. It states that the air from your crawlspace or basement travels up to your living area and then out through your attic. Leaving mold unchecked will lead to new growth in your living areas, making the problem even worse.
Many people use spray chemicals to remove mold from their homes. Doing this is only a topical treatment. The green may be gone but the roots and the spores that are floating around your crawlspace or basement are still there and soon the mold will be back. The only true way to solve your mold problems is to reduce the humidity in the affected areas. Here is where our Sani-Dry dehumidifying system is to the rescue! The Sani Dry not only will reduce the humidity in the air but also purifies it with a two part filtration system. A prefilter for large dust particles can be rinsed clean as needed and the second is able to filter out particles down to the size of 2 microns, which will remove any mold spores floating around. It removes 10 times the amount of moisture from the air than a regular home dehumidifier using the same amount of energy. Not only does this help with the crawlspace or basement, but as we stated with the stack effect it also helps with the rest of your home.
