Getting Ready for Old Man Winter
When it comes to the concrete in and around your home, today is not too soon to talk about getting those spaces ready for winter. Or maybe I should say before winter. While PolyLevel works well in any weather, leveling and stabilizing a concrete walkway, porch or stairs should be done before the added danger of ice and snow. Tripping hazards are amplified with the added danger of slipping on a slick surface.
Sealing up those cracks should be done now rather than later, eliminating the intrusion of water which will freeze and expand, making cracks larger and causing further erosion of the soil beneath the slabs.
Another thing you will want to consider is coating your driveway and walkway, adding protection against the harshness of winter. As with cracks, water settles into the porous concrete and freezes, expanding and ultimately cracking it.
So, while you’re checking off your list of Fall to-do’s, add the concrete surrounding your home as well.
