West Creek
Challenge
The customer purchased the home with the understanding that there was water leaking into the basement. After the home inspection, the home inspector found that because the house had too much hydro-static pressure around the foundation, the foundation was compromised on the north side of the house and was protruding in 1-1/2 inches. This didn't seem like much, but there are 4 stages of fall failure. The first is a horizontal crack across the block. The 2nd stage was stair-step cracking in the corners of the block. The third stage is tipping from the top or sheering from the bottom of the block. The 4th sage is that the wall caves in due to the amount of pressure building up and the wall is so severely compromised that it cannot hold back any more. This homeowner was experiencing stage 2 of wall failure.
Solution
The New homeowner contacted a few local contractors who specialize in structural repair. After 3 separate bids, the homeowner chose Frontier Basement Systems because of the professionalism and care that they took to address every one of the homeowners issues. Frontier Basement Systems Installed Waterguard, an interior basement waterproofing system along the foundation wall to relieve pressure from behind the wall of hydro-static pressure and direct the water to a TripleSafe sump system. This pump, pumped the water outside and 30 feet away from the house as directed by the homeowner. Next, Frontier Basement Systems put up a wall system called Bright Wall. This is designed to direct any water from the wall into the Waterguard system they installed previously while also giving a very nice an appealing new look to the basement. The Brightwall is an easy washable surface that should last the life of the home. Bright Wall is made of a non-organic material so it cannot mold or mildew. Lastly, Wall Anchors were installed to stabilize the foundation wall. Some digging was done on the outside of the house to attach the Earth Anchor from the 12' rod that was ran outside. Once the Wall Anchor was tightened the wall was actually pulled in slowly almost 1/2". Frontier Basement Systems says that the wall could be straightened over time with this system. The Wall Anchor system and the Waterguard system have a lifetime warranty transferable to the new homeowner at no cost whenever they decide to sell the house. The New homeowner can no enjoy their basement with no worries of any mold, mildew, water or structural problems any more thanks to Frontier Basement Systems.
