A fabricated topper with roof shingles is used to close the access well. However it is not air tight or water proof. The topper is also subject to rust and rot.

The home owner can breaths easy. Although small in size this unit is able to take care of this entire space. Humidity stays down, mold is no longer able to grow and the air quality greatly improves.
