Photo Album: Helical Pier Installation in Drakesboro, KY
This homeowner in Drakesboro, KY, contacted Frontier Foundation & Crawl Space Repair to stabilize their tilting chimney. A chimney can begin to lean if it has inadequate footing or is built on unstable soil. For the majority of leaning chimneys, we utilize a helical pier system to support the chimney and prevent it from leaning any further. These helical piers were installed on the outside of the home and around the chimney. First, we dug out spaces for the piers to fit in. Then, we screwed helical pier sections into the holes until they reached the proper depths to support the chimney structure. Next, we position heavy-duty steel foundation brackets below and also against the foundation footing. The weight of the chimney is transferred through the piers to deep, competent soils. We then carefully fill the holes with soil.

Before the installation of the piers, the chimney was being propped up by a pole that was cemented into the ground.
