Wet and Sagging to Dry and Stable
Challenge
The homeowners called us to see if we could help him solve their problems of a flooding crawl space. They also told us they were starting to have issues with the floors in their home becoming uneven and the doors were starting to stick in certain rooms. We told them that we would be very happy to resolve these issues for them. We needed to send one of the Design Specialists to go to their home and inspect the crawl space, the foundation and the support system of the home. They were very happy to find out that we do this for free. At the time of the appointment, our design specialist went over everything that he found in the crawl space, took and showed pictures of the problems, and informed the homeowner what needed to be done to fix these problems for good! The homeowners were very happy that the design specialist took the time to answer all of their questions and walked them through how everything would go if they decided to choose Frontier Basements Systems for their Crawlspace repair needs.
Solution
When our team got out to the home, they started on the support system of the home, the water that was flooding the crawl space was also causing the floor supports to sink. So our crew started by installing Smart Jacks, Smart Jacks are a steel support system used to stabilize and level the girders and floor joists in a crawl space. The system has been laboratory tested to support loads of more than 60,000 lbs, making it the ideal system to stabilize your sagging floor, or any walls sitting on top of that floor.
Then it was time to work on what was causing the problem, The Water. We started out by installing 2364 sqft of drainage matting, This matting has raised dimples and helps trapped water under the liner get to the designated drain. Then they installed our clean space liner over the matting, Our CleanSpace liner is made to reduce moisture and can even lower energy bills! We also installed our SuperSump pump to make sure the water gets out of the crawlspace, and away from the home through a discharge pipe, this pipe runs underground to a lawnscape outlet. This durable fitting diffuses the discharge water while camouflaging the end of the pipe.
Last but very important was the crawlspace door. Like most the crawl space door was made of plywood which easily rots and wraps, they also don't have a good seal to keep the elements out. So we installed a Everlast door, The Everlast door is an all-plastic door, that won't rot, wrap, or need painted, and the bugs won't eat it... Knobs screw into anchors in the wall to draw the door tight against the weatherstripping to seal it off from the outside air.
The homeowners were very happy their floors were stable, the doors no longer stuck, their crawl space was dry and they also got new storage area out of it, plus now they will save money on their heating and cooling bills for years to come.
