Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Water Damage in Columbia Basement

This 1955 Columbia home had a finished basement but was not waterproof. The leaking basement had caused a mold problem concerning the family about their health. The family was aware that water came in through the basement wall with each rain. Finding a permanent solution that would keep the basement dry all of the time to prevent mold and reduce odors was the priority. Waterproofing the walls and a better sump pump were just as important. Fixing the walls, flooring, and getting rid of mildew were added value.

The water damage to the wall paneling had caused wood rot.

The tiles on floor were porous and had absorbed the moisture, staining and damaging the tile and grout.

Hidden Sump

A single sump pump was hidden inside a cabinet but did little to protect the space.

Another sump was located in the utility area of the basement with additional discharge lines draining into it.

Water Collection System

WaterGuard is a sub-floor drainage system that sits on the footing of the foundation. A small flange sets it just off the wall to collect any water into the specially designed piping system and preventing unsightly gaps or clogs.
