Radon with Basement & Crawlspace
Challenge
The issue with this project was the customer was experiencing higher than normal levels of Radon in their home. The Challenge to repair this issue was the customer owned an older home that had a "cellar basement." Many homeowners in the greater Nashville area have this very same problem either due to an older house or because there was an addition put on later in the homes life where there was a basement originally and a crawlspace was added.
Solution
The fix for this particular customer was to install a Super Sump depressuization kit with an air tight liner in the basement part of the house. A Cleanspace Encapsulation system was installed to seperate the dirt crawlspace from the rest of the house and a 4" perforated pipe running under the encapsulation system and into the basement Super Sump. Lastly a 4" pipe was installed with a fan on the outside of the house to draw the air from under the Cleanspace liner and from under the basement slab through the Super Sump liner. The customer went from a dangerous level of well over 4 picocuries per Liter to a very safe level of 0.8 picocuries per liter! The customer was very extatic and had this to say:
"Excellent work! Fast, Well done and friendly guys. Highly Recommend!" - Mr. Hardaway (Homeowner)
