Open Vents
The way air flows through a home is it comes from the bottom and rises to the top and eventually escapes through the roof if your home isn't air sealed. With open vents in a crawl space, that brings in hot, humid air into the summer or cold, frigid air in the winter which can find it's way into your living space, making rooms in your home uncomfortable.

Dirt contains moisture from the earth that will eventually evaporate, rise, and create condensation when the warm, humid air reaches a cooler surface such as an air duct or HVAC system. Condensation can cause wear on a foundation and can cause mold to grow.
