Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Crawl Space Encapsulation in Gallatin, TN
When this homeowner in Gallatin, TN, sought to have their crawl space encapsulated, they contacted Frontier Foundation & Crawl Space Repair. When our crew entered the space, they discovered a damaged vapor barrier and sagging fiberglass insulation. Along the concrete walls of the crawl space was evidence that water had been in the space at some point. On the wooden joists of the crawl space, mold could be seen. First, the old vapor barrier was removed as well as the damp insulation. Drainage matting was rolled across the dirt floor to help with the flow of water from under the vapor barrier to out of the crawl space. Over the matting, a CleanSpace vapor barrier was applied to the walls and floors, ensuring the space is protected from water damage. To control any moisture inside the space, a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier was installed. SilverGlo insulation panels were placed on the crawl space vents for added insulation. Now, the crawl space is safe from water damage and protected from the elements.
Before Encapsulation
Before encapsulation, the crawl space was dirty and filled with debris.
Damaged Barrier
A damaged vapor barrier like this loses all it's designed to do.
Evidence of Water
Water stains on the concrete walls indicate flooding likely occurred in the crawl space at one point.
Mold
Mold only forms when it has access to water and organic materials, making damp wood joists the prime spot for growth.
Fallen Insulation
Fiberglass insulation easily soaks up water, causing it to sag and fall, especially in a damp crawl space.
Drainage Matting
Drainage matting acts as a cushion underneath the vapor barrier
