Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Crawl Space Encapsulation in Clarksville, TN
These homeowners in Clarksville, TN, contacted Frontier Foundation & Crawl Space Repair to have their crawl space properly encapsulated. Upon inspection, our crew noticed several signs of a water-damaged crawl space, such as mold, sagging insulation, and spots with standing water. First, our crew removed the sagging insulation, which had been absorbing moisture from the damp crawl space. The older vapor barrier was no longer covering the crawl space floor, exposing the damp soil underneath. In some spots of the crawl space, evidence of standing water could be seen. Once the insulation, plastic barrier, and other debris were removed from the space, we rolled out drainage matting across the dirt floor. On top of this matting, we applied a 20-mil-thick CleanSpace vapor barrier. Along the walls, we applied a thinner version of the CleanSpace vapor barrier. The exposed crawl space vents were insulated with SilverGlo insulation panels and sealed with foam. To control humidity levels, a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier was installed. Finally, we replaced the old crawl space door with our EverLast door, which is resistant to damage from the elements.
Original Crawl Space Door
Before, the crawl space had a wooden door, which was susceptible to wood rot and deterioration.
Evidence of Standing Water
Signs of standing water can be seen in the lower areas of the crawl space.
Sagging Insulation
Because of the humidity levels in this crawl space, the fiberglass insulation acted like a sponge.
Mold
Mold flourishes in damp crawl spaces.
Exposed Crawl Space Vent
This exposed crawl space vent was letting external air in where it mixed with the dirt and mold of the crawl space, creating a musty mess.
Drainage Matting
We used heavy-duty tape to seal off the drainage matting from the crawl space's dirt floor.
CleanSpace Vapor Barrier
Our durable vapor barrier is made to brighten your space and prevent water intrusion.
Sealed Vent
Sealed crawl space vents prevent dirty air from blowing up into the living areas of the home.
EverLast Crawl Space Door
Our Everlast door is constructed of inorganic materials, so it will not rust or rot like metal or wooden doors.
