Before the Transformation
Upon arrival, we found a cluttered crawl space with elevated humidity levels. Open vents allowed moisture and pests to invade, while an inadequate plastic barrier failed to manage standing water effectively.
Insulation Issues
With its paper backing, the existing fiberglass insulation presented a significant challenge. This porous material absorbed moisture, contributing to mold growth and weight that caused it to sag and fall.
Standing Water Concern
Pooled water in this area exacerbated humidity issues, leading to a muddy environment. The old vapor barrier inadequately managed water seepage, turning the crawl space into a stagnant pool.

Humidity Alert
We recorded an alarming 82% relative humidity in the crawl space. This high level of moisture not only fosters mold growth but also jeopardizes the overall air quality in the home. Any measurement above 55% is a breeding ground for mold and mildew.
Sump Pump Solution
To address water issues, we installed our TripleSafe sump pump system. This robust system features three layers of protection against standing and running water, including a battery backup to ensure operation during power outages.
Effective Drainage
We installed drainage matting on the ground after applying the CleanSpace vapor barrier to the walls. This critical step prevents water from pooling beneath the vapor barrier and directs flow to the sump pump system.
Sealed Vents
A vital part of the encapsulation process involves sealing all crawl space vents. This measure effectively blocks moist air and pests from entering the space, significantly improving the environment.
Final Installation
The installation of the CleanSpace vapor barrier marked the final step. This 20-mil thick, poly-reinforced liner has a 25-year warranty against rips and tears and features a mold-resistant additive. Together with the sump pump and dehumidifier, it ensures a dry, healthy crawl space for years to come.
