Before the Project
When we arrived, this crawl space was being used for extra storage. Unfortunately, high moisture levels made it risky to store anything valuable here. Moisture can ruin items over time, so the family was ready for a permanent fix.
Wet Wood Joists
These floor joists showed signs of water damage, which can lead to mold and weaken the wood structure. Left untreated, this damage can lead to bouncy or even sagging floors. Tackling this now prevents more extensive (and costly) repairs.
Water Damage Along Walls
Water residue can be seen along the foundation walls, indicating standing water issues. Identifying these spots is crucial to understanding moisture entry points, which can then be addressed with encapsulation and proper drainage.
CleanSpace Walls
Once the space was cleaned, we applied the CleanSpace vapor barrier to the crawl space walls. These block walls are porous, allowing moisture to seep through naturally, but with CleanSpace, we keep that moisture out of the crawl space environment.
Drainage Matting
Drainage matting was then laid on the ground to facilitate water flow. Its dimpled design channels water beneath the vapor barrier, helping it flow directly to the sump pump rather than pooling under the CleanSpace barrier.
CleanSpace Vapor Barrier
Finally, we installed the CleanSpace vapor barrier, a durable 20-mil liner with a 25-year warranty. With sealed vents and a dehumidifier, this solution keeps the crawl space dry, healthy, and protected for years.
