Drywall Crack
Like this one in the ceiling, cracks in drywall are a common sign of foundation or crawl space problems. As the home shifts, these cracks form, highlighting issues below that need immediate attention.
Sagging Floors
Uneven, sagging floors are another red flag pointing to structural problems in the crawl space. Here, the rise at the edge shows how much the floor has shifted. Left unchecked, this can further damage the joists and flooring.
Wooden Crawl Space Door
Traditional wooden crawl space doors, like this one, are prone to rot and decay and offer little protection against moisture and pests. Our EverLast Crawl Space Door provides a durable, airtight solution, keeping the crawl space secure and dry.
Water Damage
Years of water intrusion have left visible stains along the crawl space walls. Porous block walls absorb water, weakening the foundation and creating various moisture-related issues.
Troublesome Insulation
Fiberglass insulation in crawl spaces is a magnet for trouble. It absorbs moisture, grows mold, and, due to its weight, often falls from the joists. Removing it is a vital step in addressing crawl space humidity problems.
Mold on Joists
Excess moisture in the crawl space has led to mold growth on wooden floor joists. This isn't just a crawl space issue-50% of the air you breathe upstairs originates below, making this a critical problem to address.
Improper Liner
The existing plastic liner in the crawl space needed to be more robust and effective at trapping water instead of keeping the space dry. Professional-grade vapor barriers are a must for long-lasting moisture control.
Removing Insulation
To prepare for encapsulation, we removed the soggy fiberglass insulation. This step eliminates any present mold and mildew growth and makes way for a better, more efficient solution.
Perimeter Drainage
We installed EZ Flow drainage along the crawl space perimeter. This system captures groundwater and channels it to the sump pump, ensuring efficient water management.
Drainage Matting
Drainage matting was laid to create a path for groundwater under the vapor barrier, directing it to the perimeter drain. This prevents water from becoming trapped beneath the encapsulation system.
SmartJack Footing
Strategically placed SmartJack footings provide the foundation for stabilizing sagging floor joists. These footings are dug in to prevent soil movement from compromising the support system.
SmartJacks Installed
Our SmartJacks were installed and secured to the joists, offering permanent support and leveling sagging floors. This system ensures long-term stability and peace of mind for the homeowner.
CleanSpace Vapor Barrier
The CleanSpace Vapor Barrier is the centerpiece of the encapsulation. Its thick, durable design seals out moisture, creating a clean, dry environment while protecting the home from humidity and mold.
TripleSafe Sump Pump
To keep the crawl space dry, we installed the TripleSafe Sump Pump. With three pumps, including a battery backup, this system is built to handle any water intrusion, even during power outages.
SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier
Finally, the SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier was installed to regulate humidity. This powerful yet efficient system removes up to 100 pints of moisture daily, keeping the crawl space-and the home above-safe and comfortable.
