Crawl Space Repair Before & After Photos

A North Nashville home owner was worried about his leaky crawlspace. He knew the moisture was a problem and was worried about it damaging any of his equipment. Keeping the crawl space completely dry all the time was important to this home owner.

This customer in Nashville, TN was worried about his crawl space with the large amounts of rain we have been getting here in Middle Tennessee lately. He decided on a full basement encapsulation to protect his home. This encapsulation included SilverGlo Insulated Panels, to help with his energy costs throughout the year, CleanSpace Drainage Matting, so any water from the ground can flow underneath the encapsulation and drain to the Sump Pump. We also installed CleanSpace on the walls and floor and added a TripleSafe sump pump with a backup battery and a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier to complete the encapsulation. Now he no longer needs to worry about nasty, musty smells, water intrusion, or humidity causing mold and mildew and rotting wood joists.

By having high water content in a crawl space, the relative humidity will cause wood to become damp and rot, causing mold to grow. In winter time when the relative humidity in the air is low, the result is cold floors, cold drafts and high energy bills! So when the solution is worse than the problem, the answer is to use a vent cover in conjunction with our CleanSpace system.

The owners of this home started seeing signs upstairs that indicated something was going on downstairs that needed to be addressed. The floors were becoming "bouncy" and uneven, and there was also a mildew aroma lingering upstairs. Our inspector looked around the home and ventured into the crawl space to take photos (for reference), take moisture and humidity tests, and check the overall health of the space. 
Most of the wood in the space had a moisture content of 20% or above. Wood at that level is already showing signs of decay. There were spots that even neared 30%, which is why the floors upstairs were starting to get bouncy. The wood was rotting away right under their feet!
