The home in Shelbyville, TN, was suffering from crumbling walls with cracks on both the interior and exterior of the house. After noticing these cracks, the homeowners decided to reach out to Frontier Foundation & Crawl Space Repair for assistance. After evaluating the situation, our crew decided that wall anchors would be best at stabilizing this home. First, our crew dug holes in specific areas around the home. The anchors were then placed inside the holes. Inside the home, small holes were drilled into the walls where the anchor rods were pushed through. Wall anchor plates were placed over the part of the rod that was sticking through the wall. Finally, the wall anchors were tightened to support and straighten the walls.
This Kentucky couple moved into their home and started noticing interior cracks forming, as well as a musty odor wafting in their home. They knew that their crawl space was quite unhealthy and went down to see that there was standing water. They then began to worry about the structure of the home and the home's value decreasing. The couple decided to start looking for a company that could do a quality job at a good price, so they'd never have to worry about the crawl space and structure again.
Our experienced inspector came by for their free inspection. He looked around the home and crawl space, took moisture and humidity tests, and took many photos, so when he sat down and discussed what he found with the homeowners, the homeowners could see exactly what he was referring to.
Our inspector told the homeowners all about our encapsulation process and SmartJack system.
The homeowners decided they wanted to start with the installation of our stabilizers.
The best way to permanently fix sagging crawl space floor problems is to install SmartJack posts beneath the beam that supports your crawl space joists. Each SmartJack post rests on a precast concrete pad that is set on a base of compacted stone. This engineered structural system won’t settle like masonry piers can; nor will it rot or shift like a wood post.
Developed by Foundation Supportworks, the steel SmartJack crawl space piers can be cut to size, based on the height of your crawl space. A threaded post cap enables the installer to raise a sagging floor back to its proper level. All SmartJack parts are protected against rust with a thick galvanized coating.
